It might hit the camp button a little too hard at times, but overall Dark Nights with Poe and Munroe is an enjoyable live-action adventure. The episodes are short enough to get through in one sitting and are packed with replayability in the different outcomes of our choices, as well as entertaining tales told within. Live-action games have had a bit of a resurgence of late, and this title easily rides high as one of the best.Become a Patron! Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is a brilliant FMV cinematic adventure, putting you in the driving seat of August’s answer to Mulder and Scully (Post X-files when they’re forced to run a radio station talking about dreams, nightmares, and the supernatural). Each episode has its own self-contained story, offering choices that will not only alter the dialogue and scenes, but also the ending of each one. There’s replayability for those who wish to grab all the trophies and/or see what the other choices lead to, often resulting in more quirky banter between our protagonists or a random piece of dialogue you’d never have expected. If you like FMV games where you’re in control of the events, you need to pick up this game today – also, go and buy The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker and The Shapeshifting Detective whilst you’re at it!

Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is more of what D’Avekki does well – weird, cheeky, eldritch FMV games that have snappy dialogue and a penchant for the lovecraftian darker side of entertainment. If you enjoyed Shapeshifting Detective or The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker, you’ll enjoy what this game does too – more so than those who haven’t. There’s a handful of scenes that feel out of place, given the quality of the rest of the game, and the timed hot-spot interface is too nonspecific at times.

Charming, cheesy, and mysterious, Dark Nights with Poe and Munro delivers a solid FMV adventure throughout its six episodes. Though the game plays out more like a choose-your-own-adventure than a full on video game, it’s a good time nonetheless. I found the dynamic duo to be fun to watch, especially during their playful banter due to the strong chemistry between the two actors. However, the quick time event based gameplay lacked polish and felt tacked on. Regardless, Dark Nights with Poe and Munro is certainly worth playing for those who enjoy goofy supernatural FMV games.
