I am the target audience for Demon Slayer: Sweep The Board in that I’m both a Demon Slayer fan and the three Mario Party titles on the N64 Virtual Console on Switch are (by a significant margin) my most played titles on it. I got everything that I expected out of this game and had a lot of fun with it right throughout. In fact, with Mario Party itself in a weird kind of limbo of diminishing returns of late, perhaps we do need a new property to pick up the baton.

Demon Slayer Sweep the Board is a pleasant surprise as demon slaying and party gaming go together better than one might have guessed. Those who are big fans of the franchise will get the most out of it, as the maps wonderfully incorporate the different arcs, but even casual players will get sucked into the board game and the competitive nature of the enjoyable mini-games.

Demon Slayer Sweep the Board! does exactly what it sets out to do by combining the excitement of a party game with the world of Demon Slayer. It’s tailor-made for the niche audience of anime enthusiasts and party game aficionados alike. While solo play may not offer the same level of enjoyment as playing with friends, the game’s seamless online and local multiplayer options make it easy to join the fun.

If you already played Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board! on Switch, there isn’t anything of note here to warrant a double dip barring improved visuals and performance. If you don’t own it yet, I would recommend the Steam Deck version for the best portable experience, and also think the team did a good job of translating the game to more powerful hardware on PS5 and PC. Hopefully Steam Remote Play Together support is added in the future. Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board! Steam Deck Review Score: 4/5 Noreya: The Gold Project Steam Deck Review I’ll give Noreya this much: it has some ideas.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board successfully bridges the gap between the captivating world of the anime and the interactive realm of gaming. While it may draw comparisons to other board game adaptations like Mario Party, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Sweep the Board distinguishes itself with its meticulous attention to detail, engrossing narrative, and strategic depth, and set’s it apart. Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board! offers a unique take on party board games and anime-based games in general. It’s an easy recommendation for fans of the series, but those simply seeking a truly fresh spin on a somewhat perfunctory formula should enjoy it regardless of their mastered breathing style.
