Gladio, one of the three faithful comrades who accompany Noctis on his journey will become a playable character for the very first time in his own episode with a completely different type of gameplay and an all-new story. Picking up from the events from the group’s encounter with Ravus, Gladio leaves the group to train alongside Cor and become even more powerful. He sets on a path to face challenges by encountering larger than life monsters along the way.

If you’re not bothered about extra loot or costumes, then Episode Gladiolus might not be that worthwhile. But if you’re a fan who was invested in Final Fantasy XV‘s main story, finding out what happened to Gladiolus and learning where he got his scar from is a very welcome addition.

Episode Gladio is a good start for Final Fantasy XV’s planned DLC. While Cor and Gilgamesh are great to see, and the changed gameplay is interesting, the dungeon and overall story are somewhat bland.

Score Attack hammers home how straightforward and bland the dungeon design is. Not much carries over to the main game — just the shirtless outfit if you unlock it, and a weapon for beating the game (which seems to have lower stats than Gladio’s late-game weapon anyway?).
