Retro gaming is all the craze at the moment, and so many players are using these short, sharp titles to fill the void between big titles such as COD, AC Valhalla and Cyberpunk. I can see Habroxia doing this perfectly, especially if you are a fan of mindless space themed games. Do I recommend that you buy this? Absolutely! Jump in your cockpit, upgrade your vessel, and take down everything that flies in your path.

Habroxia is about as standard as retro-style shoot 'em ups can get while still offering slight twists on the classic gameplay.H

Overall, Habroxia is a neat little arcade title with some cool ideas.

While it’s functional as a game, I expected more from Habroxia. That may sound unfair, but my expectation was not to breeze through everything the game had to offer in less time than a Lord of the Rings movie and feel no urge to return to any of it. What it does right, it does with no particular finesse. It’s a shooter in which I was able to get away with not shooting anything, or mindlessly holding the fire buttons on way too many occasions. Considering what else is available, not just on consoles but on PC as well, I struggle to recommend this to anyone, barring a massive discount from its $7.99 asking price.

Habroxia is a pretty bland and curiously straightforward little shmup with nothing about it that stands out as being worth recommending. The handful of little flourishes it introduces – such as switching between horizontal and vertical traversal or its three different fire modes – just don’t add any kind of fun to proceedings because the game hasn’t been designed in a way that makes them neither interesting or necessary.
