Progressing through Heaven Dust's zombie-filled world is highly enjoyable thanks to its rewarding puzzles and sense of exploration.Heaven Dust gameplay video → Heaven Dust 2 Review More games with zombies Barbearian Review Switch ★★★★☆ Hacking and slashing away at hordes of enemies offers simple and immediately gratifying gameplay so here's the delightful Barbearian. Right off the bat, let me just say that Barbearian features some incredibly charming visuals within its detailed and colourful environments and everything in its game world is beautifully-animated which makes the miniature enemy and player sprites really come to life.

It’s a brave move trying to stand out in the zombie market. With so many games and clichés, it’s easy to make a bland and mediocre title, but that definitely isn’t the case here. Heaven Dust is a brilliant game that epitomises everything that is great about the genre and I recommend you buy it here! Can you survive this viral outbreak and make it through the mansion? Search for clues, find items and kill zombies while solving every puzzle you encounter.

As a survival horror title without the classic horror elements, Heaven Dust may disappoint hardcore Resident Evil fans, but instead captures a new audience that will appreciate its solid puzzle sections and excellent world-building.

Heaven Dust feels like a smaller Resident Evil game. It's only a couple of hours long, but it's also an indie title, and it packs a lot of fun into its short runtime. The combat and survival elements are serviceable and mostly act as a framework for the puzzles. Those who have gone through the Spencer Mansion a few times before should give Heaven Dust a try, as it offers a bite-size and serviceable homage to the original survival horror game. Next: Capcom's Forgotten Horror Game About Surviving With A Very Good Boy Heaven Dust is available today, March 12, 2021, on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, and is also available on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Heaven Dust is an oddity — it’s a game that can’t simply be dismissed as a rip-off of Resident Evil because the developers have made no attempt to hide what they’re doing. This isn’t simply ‘inspired by’ RE, it’s a literal recreation of Capcom’s seminal work in everything but name and a couple of minor plot details. It’s clearly a labor of love from people with a deep fondness for the franchise. I’m not surehow it will land for people who have no nostalgia for the original, but as someone who’s spent untold hours inside Spencer Mansion, I found it to be a delightful bite-sized homage. Disclosures: This game is developed by One Gruel Studio and published by indienova.

For existing fans, there is some joy to be had in this Resident Evil love letter. For those that never played the originals though, Heaven Dust isn’t a patch on the games that inspired it.

Heaven Dust isn’t an awful game, but it has some awful parts. Uninspired gameplay and a lack of originality aren’t enough to make the game worth a recommendation. However, there’s just enough love put into that, perhaps, old-school Resident Evil fans could have a good time.

Heaven Dust presents itself as a downgraded take on the Resident Evil franchise and that's exactly what it is. There are some fun puzzles and old-school Resident Evil fans may get a kick out of exploring the mansion and finding all the similarities between it and Capcom's franchise, but otherwise it's hard to come up with a reason why most survival-horror enthusiasts would want to play this. Heaven Dust is out now for PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
