Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
A new, ultimate version of the exhilarating action game set in the Zelda universe will include every map and mission, plus all 29 playable characters from both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game, along with all of the previous paid downloadable content. Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is just that, the very best edition of the title that has been released. It offers the most content, and a wonderful quality of life changes that make it easily accessible for new or returning players. Those who played the Wii U or 3DS versions will find this is truly the greatest experience and is very much worth picking up again for those who don’t mind starting from the beginning once more.

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition offers up a lot of content and does a great job of compelling players to unlock more of it. As long as everyone knows what they’re getting into though I would definitely recommend this game to fans of the Dynasty Warriors franchise regardless of their familiarity with Zelda. I’d also give a thumbs up to fans of the Zelda games that are into arcade-style action every now and again. This review is based on a Nintendo Switch digital code provided by the publisher.

Those who have played the game on 3DS won’t find as much new content, but they may appreciate the much improved graphics and two-player mode. There aren’t many exclusive features for those looking to triple-dip, but having everything in one substantial and gorgeous package is enough to warrant considering playing the best version of this hack-and-slash game. I am a lifelong gamer, having grown up with Nintendo since I was young.

It might have taken a couple tries to get the formula right, but Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is exemplary. Much can be said about the absurd amount of content, but what really takes this game to the next level are the various refinements. The item card shop alone makes a world of difference for dedicated adventurers. There's also the enhanced frame-rate, which lends a better sense of control and situational awareness to the player. They are better equipped to notice those subtle changes in enemy behaviour, or realise when a massive attack is coming.

The amount of fanservice in Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition will be enough to make any Zelda fan weep, and the gameplay is enjoyable enough that people after some light action gameplay will find a lot to like as well. Rating: 4.5/5 + So, so, so much Zelda series fanservice + Interesting and varied movesets + More missions to play then you'll know what to do with - UI is tiny and unintuitive - Framerate isn't always stable - Where is Groose? Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is a really fun experience on the Nintendo Switch and really is the definitive version. It contains all the updates and plenty of unlockable characters, items and costumes to help enhance your overall Musou experience but in the world of Zelda.
