Jitsu Squad is the definition of a pleasant surprise. I only learned about the game a month ago, the console launch has brought it to more platforms and I had an absolute blast playing through it. If you are like me and cannot get enough of the genre Jitsu Squad is a must own. I find myself revisiting this game over and over and learning the nuances of combat. That is a great sign of a great game. Definitely do not sleep on this colorful brawler.

After a release day patch, this pretty silly and unique beat-em-up is ready for the next challenger(s) After a lean first few years the Switch has really picked up quite a number of surprisingly-diverse and excellent beat-em-ups in the past few.

Jitsu Squad is an absolute riot to play, alone or with friends. There is more action than you can shake a katana at, there are more special attacks and pyrotechnics outside of a Dragon Ball anime, and the only thing wrong with it is the difficulty in making out what is going on when playing multiplayer.

Jitsu Squad is a 2D beat 'em up game full of action and lots of fun animal characters to play as. If you are looking for a four-player game, wait until there is a patch. If you want a fun single-player experience with great music and loads of action, you can't go wrong with Jitsu Squad.

Though it has its shortcomings, Jitsu Squad is a good entry into the ever-growing side-scrolling beat ’em up genre that is bound to find a legion of fans should they give it a chance. The combat is entertainingly maniacal, and there’s plenty of scope for skilful play beyond button bashing. Add in the sharp, colourful visuals, and you have an attractive game that’s fun for all.
