Still, where Legacy Collection 2 stumbles, Legacy Collection shines. The original six Mega Man games are the real stars, and having unfettered access to them in such a premium package makes this arguably the definitive way to play them. The quality of life features I mentioned previously, particularly things like Turbo CPU Speed and saving at any point makes this sextet of games not only easier to play in terms of control, but also difficulty.

The Mega Man Legacy Collection may seem lacking in core game content given how vast the Mega Man franchise is, but what it delivers is executed perfectly. Every game included here lacks input lag and comes with a lot of extras.

Whether you are a returning fan or looking for an experience similar to Shovel Knight, this collection has a lot to offer. The core gameplay has not lost it’s potency with age. For those looking for old school challenge or experience the definitive version of the early Mega Man classics, look no further than the Mega Man Legacy Collection.

Despite a few technical shortcomings, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a love letter to one of the best franchises in retro gaming history. It's packed with great gameplay, a museum's worth of never before seen pictures and information, and everything Mega Man fans could ever ask for.
