I adore Minishoot' Adventures, y’all. It’s less puzzle-oriented than most Zelda games, but it nails the feeling of exploration I love in those stories and has a combat system all of its own that is delightful. If you grew up exploring Hyrule on the NES like I did, I cannot recommend this game enough.

Minishoot' Adventures is a standout that combines the best elements of two beloved genres into a cohesive and engaging experience. 5 Fantastic If you’ve read any of my reviews before, you’d know that I’m a sucker when a game can combine two different concepts, and do it well.

For decades, I’ve chased the high that games of my childhood delivered, but I could never quite scratch the itch. But the combination of elements – the discovery, the combat, the upgrades and the world itself – made me excited to dive into Minishoot’ Adventures each and every time. It hits upon all that I love and does it with grace and aplomb, and I cannot recommend this game enough. A treasure in a modern world of titles, it doesn’t do retro through pixel graphics or bananas difficulty: it’s retro because it makes you feel like a kid again.

Thanks to its excellent utilization of well-worn Zelda-inspired conventions and enough unique twists to differentiate it from the pack, Minishoot' Adventures delivers an outstanding bullet-hell experience with less frustration than most entries in the genre. I didn't set out to 100 percent Minishoot' Adventures, but by the time I reached the end of the the story, I had experienced everything the game has to offer, a testament to how enamored I am with this fun, twin-stick title. Minishoot' Adventures bridges the gaps between disparate genres with outstanding gameplay and thoughtful level design to deliver one of the best games I've played all year.

It’s so pretty, and so happy, and somehow non-verbal spaceships are able to have meaningful relationships. More importantly, Minishoot is also exquisitely well designed, with splendid dungeons to puzzle and fight through, and a vast overworld that’s so smothered in secrets that I’m still revelling in finding every part of the game long after I’ve rolled credits. This is utterly stunning.

Minishoot’ Adventures is a game that’s easy to bestow praise upon. It’s easy on the eyes, being clean and colourful, and its soundtrack is a bit of a treat. But most important of all, it’s an absolute joy to play. From the minute you take control of your small ship and discover that it’s a joy to manoeuvre, chances are you’ll be hooked. From then on, you’ll just be focused on exploring the game’s wonderfully crafted world and making your ship mighty. This review of Minishoot’ Adventures was facilitated by a code provided by the game’s publisher.

Minishoot’ Adventures also has a few difficulty options including the ability to auto-aim, have slower enemies and enemy bullets, with separate options for game speed, invincibility, and infinite energy if you’d like to have a completely relaxed experience. Barring some elements of the aesthetic that are quite forgettable, Minishoot’ Adventures is awesome from start to finish. If you enjoy twin-stick shooters and older top-down Zelda games, this one is worth your time right now. Stop reading and go download the demo. Minishoot’ Adventures Steam Deck Review Score: 4.5/5 News and Trailers Lots of news this week across the Triple-i Initiative showcase that aired on April 10th, a new and awesome Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance trailer, Mortal Kombat 1 bringing my most anticipated kharacter in as DLC soon, Bitwave Games releasing more of Toaplan’s shmups on PC, a big System Shock remake update, Sand Land news, and more. Atlus and Sega released new details for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance alongside an excellent new gameplay trailer.

Minishoot’ Adventures is great, plain and simple. It’s oozing charm from its art style and UI to gameplay and exploration. It’s a game you want to complete 100%, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
