A meld of stunning artwork and challenging gameplay make for a puzzle game that will entertain for hours on end, having players losing track of time, interpreting the meaning of Monochroma and connecting it to today's world.

Monochroma successfully does what few two-dimensional platformers can do in today’s marketplace, it tells an interesting and moody story that sucks you in. In short, it’s a beautifully rendered, wonderful bit of escapism. Suggestions: 1.

I really enjoyed my time with Monochroma. I found it charming, intriguing and most importantly, very well done. If I had to find a negative it would be that the jump button could be a little sticky at times which caused a few unwanted deaths, but this was an issue that did not happen often enough for a rage quit situation.

Monochroma is undeniably a good game that's worth playing, but there are several issues which mark the experience down. Having a cohesive storyline, for one, would have made it much better. I know it's a matter of choice and some people prefer the mystery to knowing, but I would have liked to hear characters talking and to explore the relationship between the two brothers, as well as the relationship between the dystopian city and its inhabitants a little more than just at the visual level.

While I enjoyed the game from an aesthetics perspective, I wish that the controls were tighter and the puzzles more challenging. If you're looking for something that looks and feels different from most other games, then Monochroma will certainly fulfill those requirements.

Monochroma can proudly hold its metaphorical head high among other classy 2D puzzle-platformers. This is a game whose developers extensively studied the greats of the genre, and obviously understand what they did right. While it may not bring anything particularly new to the table, Monochroma is a beautifully executed adventure that kept me enthralled all the way from the promising opening to the slightly annoying finale. Disclosures: This game is developed by Nowhere Games and published by Merge Games.
