Okinawa Rush attracted me the moment I played it and dragged me in with its visceral, fast paced powerful battles. You won’t find a developed story or a stellar soundtrack, but sound design in combat is top tier, with each hit feeling like it’s forceful enough to crush skulls. If a dark, gruesome brawler that empowers you to be a badass is what you’re itching for, then Okinawa Rush is just the right scratch for you.

If this game was released on SNES when I was a kid I have a feeling I would have sunk an endless amount of time into it, especially with the fact that it has local co-op. I know I would have worked my way up through each difficulty setting and tried to find all the secrets hidden in the game. The game contains a nice variety of content overall, but I think featuring only five main levels is a little slim; however, I did have fun during my time with the game. If you have a local co-op partner then this game should definitely be on your radar. If you prefer to play solo then this could appeal to you, if you like challenging retro-fueled experiences.Become a Patron! Okinawa Rush is definitely worth a try for fans of 90’s and early 2000’s arcade games. It has a very arcadey setup and is quite satisfying to play through. Harder difficulty will give you a level timer that you’ll have to constantly add to by defeating enemies – sort of like a survival mode. With only having five levels, the game is very short (only takes around 2 hours to complete), but it has a lot of replay value in its difficulties. It also has its own in-game achievements on the Switch and many of the achievements are VERY challenging!
