Ooblets is a fantastic farming simulation game that also combines cute-creature-collection and a deck-building/card battling system all in one handy-dandy game. It looks, sounds, and runs well on the Switch, and is entirely worth your money.

It’s clear there’s a devoted team that set out knowing the cozy little game it wanted to make, and what they’ve created is a pleasure to play. So get out there and become a farming mogul or a titan of commerce or revel in the strategy of dancing — if you like nice things, then you’re sure to enjoy Ooblets.

Although some of the unique elements like the Ooblet collecting and the dance battles may be surface level approaches compared to other games in this genre, I see a great amount of promise in Ooblets’ ability to provide a relaxing yet satisfying experience for players who have enjoyed farming, raising cute creatures, and occasionally deckbuilding. Your life may have been a giant toot before now, but Ooblets will definitely charm you to Elswair and back. Give Ooblets a chance — it’s absolutely worth it!

I played it on PC for this review, and I’m looking forward to trying out some mods that the community will cook up, but I have to say that this is a perfect Switch game. In fact, after I go back and drive this save file into the ground, I plan on buying the Switch version to replay all over again, much like I did with Stardew. Gotta support the indie games you love, right?

Ooblets is an adorably quirky monster collecting game with enjoyable farming elements. Finding the right items to enter dance battles with new Ooblets then planting their seeds to cultivate them for yourself never gets boring. Plus, for such a funny game, the story culminates in a surprising ending which will make your hard work to improve Badgetown pay off in a big way.

Goshzookie! With a combination of varying gameplay styles alongside beautiful designs and upbeat music, Ooblets is an adorable and entertaining game that, even with its glitches, is still worth putting your time into playing. So come make your home in Badgetown. You’ll be glad you did. Ooblets is available now on the Xbox One and the Epic Game Store for PC.

Without a doubt a charmingly weird little world to explore, capture critters, and then watch them dance battle in It’s a bit of a double-edged sword when you know and then absolutely cater to your audience, but though Ooblets may lean very heavily towards folks who appreciate quirk, charm, and a more leisurely pace in their games it still delivers well enough on the whole not to be pigeon-holed as niche.
