Despite the vastly improved graphics, sound and additional tweaks, which do not require knowledge of the original release to be appreciated, It is simply an absolute pleasure playing Sam and Max. Sam and Max Save the World is the kind of title that can be enjoyed by yourself or with family and friends.

Both Sam & Max Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space remain great games after all these years. These remasters honor what made the originals special, while simultaneously modernizing the games. Updated graphics, audio, and accessibility features are just a few of the quality-of-life improvements found in these charmingly bizarre yet well-crafted adventures. New players and old fans alike will find plenty to love.

Skunkape have done a fantastic job of refining everything that needed to be updated but have left the prevailing spirit of Sam & Max Save The World untouched. For fans of the genre or for anyone who enjoys absurd irreverent humour, this is a ‘must play’ title that has the capacity to have you in fits of laughter. Sam & Max Save The World is available now on PC (review platform) and Nintendo Switch. Save the World never felt “wrong” or “off-model” or anything, but the remastered elements here feel like missing pieces we never knew about.

With the blessing of Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell, Skunkape Games has done well to bring the original highly-praised title to modern platforms, offering up plenty of reasons for new players to check out the game, and former players to come back. In fact, if you happen to own Sam & Max Season One on Steam or GOG, you can pick up the remastered version for 50%-off through the end of the year by visiting this link. The world of Sam & Max is a weird and wild one.
