Simple enough to draw you in, yet complex enough to keep you interested for the long haul. Skull: The Hero Slayer expertly balances risk-and-reward elements with player skill to make a wholly engaging action platformer.

While it can be a little difficult to get into due to an obtuse early period, everything that follows is a great experience and one that will captivate players through its mixture of charming play and engaging narrative. Those looking for deceptively simple games with surprising depth will find a lot to love in Skul: The Hero Slayer. Next: Sunlight Review: A Much Needed Pocket Of Calm Skul: The Hero Slayer releases 19 January 2021, for PC.

Skul: The Hero Slayer is yet another example of a game using its Early Access period to craft a great game with the help of player feedback and some seriously development magic. Though I’d still love more narrative to carry me through the tough times, the variety in combat and stellar design left me way too thrilled. I’m looking forward to slaying many more heroes to come.
