Overview

This is an indie platformer about a boy who seeks to leave his old life behind using a magical flying door. To Leave features challenging puzzle-platformer levels that will test your puzzle-solving skills through an emotionally gripping story. The game addresses depression - a state of mind that tempts you to open any doors if they allow you to leave everything behind... sometimes for a moment... sometimes for life.

To Leave is a great looking game that deals with a very serious topic in a tasteful way. Mental illness is always a tricky topic to tackle, but the team at Freaky Creations have certainly done a great job with this game. So if you want to try something different on PlayStation 4, you should definitely try To Leave.

Despite one truly frustrating level, I had a pretty good time with To Leave and enjoyed the incredible challenge that it presented. Unfortunately, I wasn't nearly as intrigued by its unusual and ambiguous storyline.

Trippy visuals mixed with some brutally-tough action make strange bedfellows Hoo boy, games that deal with these sorts of topics are sensitive for me since I’ve had close family members struggle mightily and hospitalized with this sort of ideation.

While it is not meant to be an educational game about mental illness, I felt that its approach to the subject was exceptionally well done. The visuals are beautiful, but the difficulty of the later levels of the game can be incredibly frustrating to the point of giving up.
