Tools Up! may be a bit unpolished but it's fun enough to receive the couch co-op torch from genre greats like Overcooked.Tools Up! gameplay video → Immortal Planet Review PlayStation 4 ★★★★☆ If you're a fan of Dark Souls like I am then here's a very impressive retro-style spin on the modern action RPG formula. Immortal Planet is another game that I didn't think much of when I started playing it.

A fun and lighthearted couch co-op multiplayer game with a simple, but appealing home renovation gameplay formula fine-tuned for party chaos! 3.8 Solid foundation As a fan of Overcooked and its ability to make the madness of cooking in the kitchen into an entertaining co-op party game – and turn non-gamers into competitive freaks – the gameplay loop of Tools Up! and its home renovation hook immediately stood out to me. Revamping homes, griefing friends and carrying around couches in couch co-op? Sign me up! While not as addictive or chaotic as its inspiration, this neat indie game more than nails its unique spin on the team-based, friendship-ruining multiplayer sub-genre and its gamification of home renovation (or home-wrecking) combined with wacky obstacles designed for chaos makes for great fun with friends and family. The core gameplay of Tools Up! is centered around performing typical tasks involved in home renovation projects – moving heavy furniture out of the way, painting walls, laying carpet, coordinating supply deliveries, inspecting floor-plan blueprints and, of course, clean up – as efficiently and cleanly as possible.

For fans of local multiplayer games like I am you’ll probably find enjoyment in Tools Up! especially if you’re a fan of Overcooked. I highly recommend you only get this if you have others to play with though as it just isn’t as fun playing solo. It’s a game that has a very approachable control scheme and a nice assortment of levels and ideas but could use a bit more touching up to really make it a special experience. *Tools Up! is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
