Total War: Warhammer II is a strategy game of titanic proportions. Choose from four unique, varied factions and wage war your way; mounting a campaign of conquest to save or destroy a vast and vivid fantasy world. This is a game of two halves: one a turn-based open-world campaign, and the other intense, tactical real-time battles across the fantastical landscapes of the New World.

Total War: Warhammer II takes the fantasy setting to its next logical level. Bringing in completely unique factions, giving them all a personality of their own in the franchises most focused campaign ever has led to an incredibly compelling game. The only problem is that the old Total War issues of poor AI with diplomacy still prevails and that the economy is easy to game to your advantage. Still, altogether an outstanding release.

Creative Assembly did something with Total War: Warhammer II that is, in my experience, quite rare in the Warhammer franchise … It followed up an excellent title with an equally (and in many ways, superior) excellent title. Perhaps a part of it is that the Total War formula seems almost ready-built for Games Workshop's vaunted franchise, but maybe it is that I do not see TW: Warhammer and its successor as Warhammer titles, but rather as Total War games with Warhammer skins.
