We’ve all been there. A stressful day resolved with a few ASMR organisation videos, or have been lost in the realms of TikTok, watching someone restock their cupboards. I think I’ve watched so many videos like this, my “for you page” is now taken over by someone resupplying their entire ice draw for their 5 person freezer. These videos are unachievable in the real world.

A Little to the Left has proven to be a great ‘night cap’ game for us these past few days, one to play for half hour before bed to unwind. It’s also been a nice palate cleanser in between other, more action heavy titles. It’s the kind of game that will suit almost anyone, offering up a fun, chill, satisfying experience. This game was reviewed based on Xbox S|X review code, using an Xbox S|X console.

A game that will first trigger, and then satisfy, your inner OCD freak Whether brought about by people being trapped in their houses from Covid, general societal anxiety, or just more people embracing their inner organization freak, games like this are a wonderful change of pace.

A Little to the Left is a cozy little game that you can drop in and out of and spend as little or as much time as you feel like. It’s relatively simple in nature, has easy controls, and is good for multiple ages. Because of the ability to play via the cloud, it could be a great game to play on the go too. Despite some finicky controls, it was a great game to decompress in the evenings and I look forward to them hopefully adding more content in the future.

Every home, no matter how tidy, has that one drawer that ends up being a catch-all space for batteries, paper clips, pens, and the like. Garages always have a corner with a few half-empty paint cans, and kitchen cupboards inevitably have a stack of cracked bowls that should probably be thrown away. A Little to the Left is an indie puzzle game that celebrates little messes like these, and the tidying-up that (sometimes) accompanies them. While its puzzles can occasionally seem opaque, A Little to the Left‘s charming art style and multiple solution options help it to stand out. Pattern Seeking A Little to the Left‘s approach is straightforward.

In all its tricks, turns and trials to overcome, A Little to the Left succeeds on the basis of its charming and relatable premise on the obsessive nature of order and sequence. Messes to tidy up, objects to arrange and patterns to recognize, or perhaps be led astray in assuming there’s one to even recognize. Max Inferno already establish a quaint and attractive presentation here, but it’s thanks to the execution of its main puzzles — with a few added mechanics and incentives to replay puzzles on top — where A Little to the Left finds that added lift to help bolster its appeal. The game’s key means of communication doesn’t always work in its favor and that cozy, laid-back approach can be an occasional annoyance just as it can be a helpful support. Even so, a game that in many ways strikes right at the heart of puzzle game mentality and that desire to find order amid the chaos. Proof that A Little to the Left with all its color and upbeat vibrancy, more importantly, has the wit and the know-how to make its challenge something you’ll take great pride in completing.
