Astro Bot Rescue Mission is not only the best PSVR title to date, but also arguably the best platformer of this generation so far. Hopefully Sony gives ASOBI! Team whatever resources they need in the future to create the inevitable follow up, because my only complaint here is that even with 26 main levels and a further 26 challenge levels, totalling around eight or so hours of gameplay, I have an insatiable craving for more Astro Bot goodness and found myself intentionally dragging my feet during the last two worlds simply because I didn’t want the experience to end. If you have a PSVR, then you need to pick this up.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission is an extremely fun and engaging game, and a dynamite addition to the growing PSVR library. At $39.99, it is an absolute bargain for what you get here. Once you start playing you will find it hard to stop. Games like these are the reason why I love PlayStation VR as much as I do. It’s a simple concept that works on so many levels here. If you have a PSVR system, Definitely check this one out, I can’t recommend it enough!

Astro Bot Rescue Mission is the best example of traditional video game mechanics executed in VR yet, amplifying and broadening 3D platforming to a whole new platform. The fundamentals, while nothing too unique, are consistently strong, allowing for the great VR mechanics and interactions to be built upon them. The wonderful tone and feel of Astro Bot’s levels paired with their thoughtful design makes it a joy throughout. Rescue Mission is directly designed around VR, while being fully featured and very high-quality, making it one of the very best VR games yet and an excellent example of the possibilities of virtual reality.
