Bullet Soul Infinite Burst is a vertically scrolling shooting game crossing old-school gameplay with a bullet hell twist. It adds numerous gameplay enhancements over its predecessor, Bullet Soul, not least of which is Burst Mode. The same aggressive, bullet-cancelling gameplay, now with more destruction, more coins and more tunes. Shooting fans, it's time to welcome back the true Japanese shooting experience!

Whether you are a SHMUP fan or not, Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst will be an addicting time. It’s refreshing to play a game that emphasizes that fun factor, so much so that I really couldn’t find much fault with the game other than the extremely small window in which the action takes place. That’s really a small price to pay though.

In short, Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst is a better structured and more confident shmup than its predecessor. The normal mode adds a fine coating of refinement to the neat scoring mechanics and solid level design.

Is Bullet Soul Infinite Burst worth it over the vanilla version of the game that was released back in April? I say yes especially for the affordable asking price and given that Burst Mode is really fun to play with and considering the additional overhaul of Normal and Caravan modes. Newcomers to the series are also welcome to grab their copy as this is basically the definitive version of the game.

Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst may be a better version of a capable shoot 'em up, but the fact that it's pretty much the same experience albeit more fine-tuned makes it a tough game to recommend if you already bought the vanilla version.
