With its single table, often obtuse mechanics and sometimes brutal difficulty, Demon's Tilt isn't going to be to everybody's tastes, but if you have even the slightest interest in pinball games then you really should check this out. While more tables would have been welcome and it's a shame that some of the visual effects have been toned down on Switch, what we have here is a game of stunning depth and complexity which rewards methodical players who aren't afraid to invest a lot of time learning all of the secrets and hidden tactics.

After playing Demon's Tilt for a while, I wanted to dive back into the 1990 classic Devil's Crush. Although this is a very well-done experience, it doesn't quite live up to the classics that Compile created decades prior.

But if you’re willing to engage with the game as intended — by gradually developing your skills over time, and being rewarded by watching your scores climb the leaderboards day by day — then this is an absolutely wonderful game to add to your collection. Bonus points if you have a Flip Grip for Nintendo Switch and can enjoy it as the dark Gods intended, in vertical “tate” mode. Demon’s Tilt is available now for Windows PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and PS4.
