Overview

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep does not require ownership of any previous Destiny 2 expansions to purchase or play. Something stirs on the surface of our forgotten moon – spiritual remnants of the past, haunted by the memories of their deaths. So strong is their torment that it has begun to reshape reality itself, calling forth waking nightmares that mimic foes once thought conquered by Guardians: warlords, mercenaries, prisoners, and disciples now imbued with dark power, fed by fear itself.

Bungie has clearly worked to reinvigorate Destiny 2 and Shadowkeep is a great step in the right direction.

Out of the gate, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep builds on Bungie’s legendary marriage of storytelling and gameplay, improving upon the foundations of the past while looking ahead to its future(s).

Shadowkeep is a big stride forward for Destiny 2, and it shows that Bungie cares about its game. Sure, there are some stumbling blocks like a bare bones story and some wonky design choices, but those don’t get in the way of enjoying the core Destiny experience. I love Destiny, and the breath of fresh air that Shadowkeep has brought to the series has me hooked once more. Bring on the Vex Invasion. Destiny 2 Shadowkeep was reviewed using a promotional code on PC and Xbox One, as provided by the publisher.

If you were ever curious about Destiny 2, Shadowkeep is the perfect entry point. If you are a reneged player that struggled with content doubts, there’s no better time to come back. And if you are neither of the aforementioned, you probably should be. Shadowkeep is everything every player wanted from Destiny 2, and in true Bungie fashion, it was delivered with a bang – which presumably emanated from the servers as they exploded on launch night. Pros - Much needed revision of content delivery - Great atmosphere throughout in environment design and score - Armor 2.0 encourages equipment investment - Seasonal Artifact is a unique idea Cons - Repeated content loses its shine faster as it feels overly familiar - No true conclusion to Scarlet Keep and the Nightmare enemies Key Specifications - Review Price: £29.99 - Developer: Bungie - Release Date: Out Now - Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC Shadowkeep takes players back to the Moon, a locale adored by many during Destiny’s original reign as the king of console pseudo-MMOs, to experience its spookiest story yet.

Shadowkeep isn’t cheap however and how much you put into it will determine how much you want to and will get out of it. The base game is $54.95 which for a stand alone expansion isn’t exactly cheap. The most value for money, based on what you can get out of it is actually the digital deluxe edition at $99.95. I think Destiny 2 is on the right path now that they’ve split from Activision. And I’ll be keenly watching their progress.
