Overview

GORN is a ludicrously violent VR gladiator simulator, made by Free Lives, the developers of Broforce and Genital Jousting. Featuring a unique, fully physics driven combat engine, GORN combatants will be able to creatively execute their most violent gladiatorial fantasies in virtual reality. Savagely strike down an infinite supply of poorly-animated opponents with all manner of weapons – from swords, maces, and bows to nunchuks, throwing knives, massive two-handed warhammers or even your blood-soaked bare hands. The only limits to the carnage are your imagination and decency, in the most brutal and savage VR face-smashing game ever produced by man.

Simply put, GORN is among the very best VR games out there. Its style is unique, its gameplay is engaging, and it delivers experiences you simply won’t get from other games.

You may look at Gorn gameplay footage and think it’s nothing special, but this is one of the most entertaining VR games I’ve played in a long time. Killing these intentionally janky barbarians is not only a cathartic way to have fun in VR, but also a great way to burn some calories without ever thinking that you’re working out. You’ll finish a Gorn session sweating like a pig in a sauna and smiling like a kid who just got a brand new video game on Christmas morning.

Gorn is the product of two years of tireless Early Access development. What started out as a laughable bit of nonsense has gradually evolved into, well, a much more polished and expansive bit of nonsense. It’s a toybox filled with razor-sharp playthings and endless action figures to use them on, upheld by a combat system that bends reality to eschew awkwardness. Ultimately it might just be a glorified tech demo for VR combat, but it’s one that will produce enough laughs and gasps that you’ll be willing to risk bodily harm playing it. For better or worse, that’s a potent example of immersion. Gorn comes out of Early Access today on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Valve Index for $19.99.

Would I recommend Gorn… absolutely… but don’t blame me for any damages!… seriously… be very careful!
