Overview

One player is trapped in a virtual room with a ticking time bomb they must defuse. The other players are the “Experts” who must give the instructions to defuse the bomb by deciphering the information found in the bomb defusal manual. But there’s a catch: the experts can’t see the bomb, so everyone will need to talk it out – fast!

I’ve played a lot of the launch lineup for Playstation VR but nothing has come close to the amount of fun that I’ve had with Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. It’s one of the few VR experiences that can be even more fun for people without the headset on. The memories I’ve had while playing this game are some of the best I’ve had this year, which is why I think for anyone jumping into the PlayStation VR, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a must purchase. It’s an interesting, tension-filled take on puzzle games, and that’s true however many people are playing it with you.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a great way to showcase your PS VR to family and friends. Everyone in the room can play, even if they don’t usually play video games! There currently aren’t many local multiplayer games available for PS VR. Luckily, this is one of them, and it’s wonderful!

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a perfect party game, provided your party likes a bit of stress every now and then. The puzzles are deviously fun, and the many permutations for each bomb mean that it'll take quite some time before repetition sets in. The game setup is also brilliant, and it makes the Switch's configuration one of the more sensible ways to play the title. As long as you have a bunch of people who aren't shy about barking loads of information to one another, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a nice addition to your party game lineup.

The number of good pure party games on the Switch is short, so it’s great to have another title that encourages participation and results in chaotic race-against-the-clock fun.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is unlike anything else you would have ever played, but it has been created so well by the team at Steel Crate Games that it really is one of the most innovative party titles out there. Printing out the extensive manual may seem like a bit of a faff initially – and I’d be more than happy if the morse code puzzles were removed altogether – but the way the two different gameplay elements have been worked together as one is pure genius.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a game worth picking up if you have someone you can play with locally. The game is not only fun and fulfilling, but I genuinely think it improved communication between my partner and me. Although I wish the latter levels introduced new modules, the game still does a good job introducing new hazards and variations to keep adrenaline running until the end of the game. At 15 dollars, the game is well worth a purchase for a few nights of wonderful bomb disposal. A review code was provided by the publisher. Eli buys virtually every Nintendo title that comes out but has expanded his collection to include amiibo.
