It’s time to dust off your overalls and hitch on your toolbelt in Manic Mechanics - a chaotic couch co-op game where you and up to three fellow grease monkeys serve the car-obsessed residents of Octane Isle. Your mission? Work your way through Octane Isle's five neighborhoods, challenging the Master Mechanics that rule each part of town. Repair as many cars, trucks, choppers, tractors, mini-subs (and even UFOs) as possible to prove your worth in this hectic race against the clock.

The game has been one of our favorites of the year and I look forward to hopefully seeing new content released for the game in the not-too-distant future.

No doubt inspired a bit by the likes of the Overcooked series, Manic Mechanics changes some elements up to reasonably stand on its own Local co-op gaming has really evolved nicely in the last console generation, and I have no doubt that the Switch’s general vibe and the indie scene have helped that out greatly.

Manic Mechanics is an engaging game that brings a fresh spin to the beloved couch co-op formula that players of the game Overcooked might be familiar with. While it may not be the most sophisticated game in its genre, it’s a fantastic addition to any gathering or party, as the game’s mechanics and quirky challenges will have you and your friends laughing and strategizing together as you work to become the ultimate mechanics of Octane Isle. Developer – 4J Studios Publisher – 4J Studios Platforms – Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS4/5, PC (Reviewed) Review copy given by Developer When most people think of 4J Studios , their mind immediately goes to the console versions of Minecraft, but today we are not mining into the world of Minecraft, instead we are driving head-first into the world of cars and mechanics! Manic Mechanics is the latest game from 4J Studios, where you put the pedal to the metal and jump into a Couch Co-op game, with up to four players and head to the auto-obsessed Octane Isle, looking to make a name for yourself as a traveling mechanic. Your objective is to make your way through the six unique neighborhoods of Octane Isle, From the rust buckets of Betty’s Scrapyard to the spooky shores of Banshee Bay, taking on the Master Mechanics who call the shots in each area and Showing them your crew has what it takes to join their guild by fixing as many cars, trucks, choppers (and even the occasional tractor, minisub, or UFO!) before the clock runs out. But don’t think this objective is gonna be easy! You’ll have to deal with fuel spills, exploding tires, short-circuiting robots, rampaging cows, and even alien abductions … yeah this game gets a bit wild.

Manic Mechanics is motor mayhem in every sense. In each neighbourhood, there are different vehicles and different challenges. Sometimes the levels were really enjoyable with a feel-good factor. At other points, they were too frustrating, and it took willpower to battle through. It’s a bit soulless for one to play, but it is definitely better with friends.
