The Nintendo Switch eShop is rife with countless “pick up and play” games, and would you know it, most of them aren’t very good. Plenty more are cheap knockoffs of better games. Mom Hid My Game 2 is chock full of something few games have anymore: surprises. If you’re looking for a new and unique puzzle experience, My Mom Hid My Game 2 is a fun little time sink.

One late-game puzzle can be a bit tricky due to relying on knowledge of a common Japanese word game called Shiritori, but otherwise Mom Hid My Game! 2 is a bit of light, silly fun. As usual for games from hap Inc., the ending is sweet in a sentimental sort of way. You probably won’t replay it often if at all, but that first go is definitely a nice slice of madcap joy. SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5 R-Type Final 2 ($39.99) The Switch has some rough ports, technically speaking.

Mom Hid My Game! 2 might be short and a bit too simplistic at times, but this charming little piece of weirdness is still a fun pastime for a few hours. Especially if you miss the absurdist experimental games that would come out of Japan a few decades ago. It’s entertaining, occasionally smart with its puzzle designs, and most important, very funny.

It doesn't change much, but Mom Hid My Game! 2 is still a fun little game. If you liked the first one, the sequel is basically more of the same, but there's still some joy to be had finding your handheld in mysterious places.

Mom Hid my Game 2 is a level pack in all but name. That isn’t exactly bad, since the first game worked perfectly fine as a funny experience, and more of what isn’t broken is not a bad thing, but this is really just another set of 50 puzzles to solve with a tiny smidge of replay value in the form of the gallery. If you liked the first and want more, then you’ll probably already have this. If not, then start with the first, and then get this, as both are equally worth your time for a fun afternoon.
