Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel is a fighting game which crosses over heroines from various visual novels and games released by Nitroplus, as well as those from manga and anime series that Nitroplus writers have been involved with. The game uses five buttons; light attack, medium attack, heavy attack, escape action, and heavy action. The escape action button can be used to perform evasive maneuvers and guards while heavy actions can be used to push an opponent back. Players can perform Infinite Blasts, which can interrupt an opponent's attack, Variable Rushes, which allows for surprise combos, and Lethal Blazes, which serve as the game's super combo attacks. Players can also choose two support characters which they can summon to assist them.

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel is just the kind of well-crafted 2D fighter that the PS4 needs more of. It’s much like the PS3-only 2D fighters we’ve been seeing over the past couple of years in the sense that it takes lesser-known licensed characters, throws them in a 2D fighting engine, and we wind up with a fantastic game that is pre-destined for obscurity from day one.

Aside from being a fighter with a cast of anime and manga characters from Nitroplus, this game is quite a solid fighter overall.

It might sound crazy but I find Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel a better brawler than more widely known Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, also an anime-style beat 'em up just recently converted to PC. I really appreciate the clean and crisp nature of Nitroplus Blasterz, both in presentation and gameplay, while Guilty Gear seems too often a blundering mess of too many effects and things happening at the same time, making the player feel a bit lost. As I have understood, the freaky Saya alone from the visual novel Saya no Uta (The Song of Saya) as a playable character is a reason enough for many fans to get Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel. Why not, and there are lots of other cool and fun to girls to play with!

In the end, those who are more familiar with works of Nitroplus will get the most out of Nitroplus Blasterz (shockingly enough), but even those with no prior knowledge of the included franchises should easily be able to enjoy it. Despite slightly lacking in the innovation department, what we have here is still an extremely solid fighter at its core, one with a nicely offbeat atmosphere and some great, inclusive gameplay that anyone can get into, so the end result is a fun 2D brawler perfect for rabid fans and noobs alike.

With strong gameplay and a healthy amount of unique characters, it’s a game that lives up to the pedigree of its developer. In a lot of ways, it even outdoes their previous titles.
