Overview

Splasher is a 2D platformer that offers arcade action. With a powerful and surprising paint canon the player will have to face great challenges and use all his skills to rescue the Splashers. These little fellows are working as peons in a big factory, Inkorp. The Evil ruler of the company, Le Docteur, has insane plans that threatens them all with a terrible fate. Along his journey, the player will have to master the power of his paint cannon. He will soon find out that each color offers special abilities, from crazy bouncing to sticking to walls, or even tricking encounters and changing their behaviour. The game will offer more than twenty levels, a time attack mode with leaderboards, epic boss fights and many other cool features.

While I do wish that there was a bit more of it, what’s here is phenomenal. This is a game I’ll definitely be revisiting for the foreseeable future.

Splasher is generally a great game that comes with fantastic visuals, smooth and fluid controls, addictive gameplay and plenty of variety. It is certainly one of the better platformers to arrive on Xbox One this year and if you’re a fan of the genre, this is one you should be looking to add to your collection.

Splasher manages to take one of the oldest gaming genres and deliver something new. Nothing about its novel mechanics come off as bizarre or out of place; it weaves mechanics and level design in such a way that it positively innovates. Kudos to the folks over at Splashteam for making a platformer that doesn’t rehash the same old experience.
