State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem is a fun arcade-style release with more than enough variety to keep you entertained from start to finish. The gameplay cycle might be a bit repetitive for some, but the change from on-foot missions to driving a car to chase a UFO to the rest of the stuff you do before defeating a boss and carrying on keeps you busy at a steady pace. How your main weapon and your special weapon also change as you progress will force you to rethink your strategy, and when you get to the end, you might want to do it all over again in Hard mode where the challenge ramps up considerably.

State of Anarchy is worth considering if you’re looking for a smaller game to play in short bursts. It’s a fun time killer, but there’s not a lot of depth here. That’s not necessarily a bad thing – sometimes you just want to zone out and shoot everything that moves. State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem was reviewed using a final retail Nintendo Switch download code provided by the publisher. Aaron got his NES in 1991 and has loved and collected video games ever since.
