THOTH is neither bloated nor even comfortably full. It is an exercise in restraint in every possible way, from its visual design to its length of less than a movie, to its soundtrack which dips in and out as if just checking in on how you’re doing. What THOTH is not is hollow. Every element is exceedingly intentional, allowing the game to be at once nearly empty while overflowing with information. First, there are the shapes themselves.

If you like shooters, particularly bullet hells or other puzzle shooters, then you’re going to love Thoth. Hands down, this is the most refreshing indie shooter I’ve played in a while. It could look a little sharper or maybe have some more levels, but for such a modest price it’s very hard to complain.

THOTH is a blissfully difficult twin-stick shooter that challenges your reflexes and puzzle-solving skills on the fly. Never have 2D shapes been creepier.

Thoth is a refreshing change of pace and an enjoyable shooter. It won’t be sold by assets and video, it’s a game that needs to be experienced in order to be fully appreciated.
