Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble surpasses both its predecessor and the recent Wargroove to become the number one Advance Wars clone available on Switch right now. Indeed, it may be fair to say that this time around Area 35 has beaten Advance Wars at its own game with a super-tight and generous SRPG that takes the best from the greats it emulates and wraps them up in a much more modern and satisfying package. Battles here are challenging, tense and highly replayable affairs, new tactical options add even more depth to proceedings and the story, once it gets going, will keep you locked in until the fight is done. Long-suffering Advance Wars fans take note, this one really is pretty much essential.

Tiny Metal: Full Rumble checks off a lot of elements that I’ve been wanting in a turned based strategy. With the variety of troops and scenarios available, it’s something that is easy to get into but it’s hard to master as there’s no cushion for the punishment you’ll receive if you are not careful. Great to play on both a TV and on the go, lovers of the style have plenty to enjoy with this one!

Although there is definitely room to grow in terms of story and how its presented, as well as a few minor flaws here and there, Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble provides a huge amount of enjoyment from start to finish with some incredibly tense fights. Its gameplay provides a great balance between fun and challenging which made me fall in love with the genre all over again.

The best Advance Wars clone so far on the Switch, with tons of content, accessible controls, and deceptively deep gameplay. Pros: Copies the tenets of Advance Wars very well, allowing anyone to pick up the basics of combat within seconds.
