Sim fans will definitely enjoy this one. As for this reviewer, I’m off to collect a few more speeding tickets as the lead driver for “Better Than Sound Transit.” A free copy of Bus Simulator on PS4 was provided for this review.

There’s not a lot to it but what there is can be a pleasant distraction from every day life for a while… even if it does simulate a form of every day life for some people. If you like simulation style games you will most likely find enjoyment in this one… if not then this might be worth giving a miss. For me it was another nice easy going title to add to my collection… now if you don’t mind I’m going to switch the radio to easy listening and raise the ramp and head off.

Despite what you may think of ‘simulation games’, Bus Simulator is incredibly addictive and frustratingly fun. Whether you’re playing the game solo or with a friend via online co-op, there’s so much more to the game than simply driving a bus – you must also deal with annoying passengers and keep an eye out for the pesky potholes of doom! Visually, it’s not the best game out there but the unique nature of the landmarks and buildings helps immerse you within this wonderful world of the bus driver. If you like simulation, casual, or relaxing games, give Bus Simulator a try – who knows, there could be a bus driver inside of you just waiting to be released?! Bus Simulator£34.99 The Good: - - Tonnes of seemingly endless missions to work through - - An interesting co-op aspect where you work on your own buses or share a single vehicle - - A decent amount of customisation (unless you purchase an ad which covers your whole bus) - - You get to ride standard or bendy buses, but no double deckers - - The tease of picking a map, but it only having one, may mean we get more maps in future DLC/updates The Bad: - - Why do people stand in the doorway like a human doorstop? - - Won't be everyone's cup of tea as it can get monotonous and repetetive if you're not into games like this - - The performance and random crashing needs to be looked at, especially on the Pro.

Bus Simulator is the type of game you fire up when you just want a more calm and slow experience. Just cruising along my routes, picking up customers, and handing out tickets was a tranquil experience. That said it does get old after awhile and this won’t be the kind of game for everyone. It’s also a shame that it looks very dated for the most part and has a few bugs and technical issues.

Despite the UI downers, I still found myself rather charmed with Bus Simulator. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and for that I admire it. The act of driving about the city is relaxing, planning routes and getting to know them is oddly fun, and managing the back end of the business can get quite deep. Even if you may not think it’s up your street, hop aboard one day and you might just be surprised. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox One.
