Without a doubt Grow: Song of the Evertree took on board what worked and what did not work so well in Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles and produced an engaging, time consuming game that is hard to put down with virtually no issues aside from occasional weird camera angles. It was not possible to finish the main story for this review because of how long it takes to complete each section, but there are dozens of hours to be spent creating new realms to explore and harvest from, creating settlements that are eye-catching and meet all residents' needs, with few issues that make it an epic title in its own right on Nintendo Switch.

There’s an open ended element to Grow that makes it something special. Far beyond the inviting graphics and the urgent environmental tale it tells, this is a thoughtful and deliberate balance of cute and considered gameplay concepts that make it a serious time sink. Grow: Song of The Evertree is a great game for fans of both the simulation and relaxing exploration titles. It's also an ideal title to introduce younger players to open-world exploration thanks to forgiving gameplay and clear explanation. With so much to discover, it is likely Grow will offer a fresh, exciting journey no matter how many times a player restarts. Grow: Song of the Evertree is for anyone who loves a sandbox sim adventure game. There isn’t much from the genre that Grow doesn’t include. It’s visually pretty, technically sound, and engaging throughout. With many environments to manage, craft and build as well as places to explore and make your own. A game with mystery, world building, farming, fun characters, exploring, customisation – Grow: Song of the Evertree really does have it all. This is one of the most wholesome and wonderful games I have had the pleasure of playing this year, and I’m here to tell you all why you should be playing it too. It’s All About A Tree Grow: Song of the Evertree is an adventure RPG game that sees players with the task of bringing the once life-giving Evertree back to its former glory.

While some will almost certainly find Grow: Song of the Evertree to be a bit too menial to keep their attention, those who simply want to enjoy a quietly beautiful adventure need look no further. From working on garden-like worlds high in the Evertree, to building a town to your own specifications, and exploring an ever growing world full of secrets to uncover, a rich experience is packed into this adventure. Performance concerns are certainly worth being aware of on Switch, but they rarely hamper the actual gameplay. If you need a break from Animal Crossing or want something even calmer than Story of Seasons, Grow: Song of the Evertree isn’t likely to steer you wrong. This is without a doubt one of the most pleasantly cozy experiences I’ve had playing a game.

Game developer, Prideful Sloth, places a premium on marrying narrative storytelling with detailed world building. This is a great game for players who just want to unwind or for parents looking for a safe game for their children to play.

To conclude then and ultimately advise whether GROW: Song of the Evertree is worth your time and money. The answer is, if you enjoyed Yonder, then you will love this. If you never tried it, then sure there are several games that offer similar approaches, but the combination of ease-of-play, excellent audio/visual fidelity and the wonderfully relaxed pacing makes this a joy-to-play and well-worth checking out if you haven’t dived into this type of non-combat gameplay experience before.

While some gamers will find the game tedious or menial or won’t capture their attention, I found it to be the opposite. I couldn’t stop playing it. Like I mentioned early in this review, I loved Prideful Sloths first game, Yonder, and Grow: Song of the Evertree was exactly what I wanted it to be; Familiar, but more refined and unique. For friends I talk to frequently while reviewing games, they’ll tell you I wouldn’t stop talking about this one. It was exactly what I needed, and those two lines I mentioned in the opening of this review hit me in a way I didn’t expect, and I loved it.
