If you pick up one game through the first half of the year, this one has to be right up at the top of the list. Killer Frequency tries something I have never experienced, and hits every single ball out the park. I haven’t been this excited for gamers to get their hands on a game in a long time! Especially with this one being such a fun game to play through.

Killer Frequency is another success that Team17 can add to their list of titles, from a storyline filled with twists and amazing voice acting to keep you locked into the story. There is always something to do within KFAM’S studio, whether you hunt down killer records to add to your collection or just spend a few minutes trying to make that perfect shot.

In the end, the fact the story and the characters are so well done win out over any quibbles I may have with details. Killer Frequency is an excellent game that takes a neat approach to both horror films and walking simulators, and it’s well worth checking out if you’re a fan of either. (But seriously, how did these people all have cell phones?)

I really enjoyed Killer Frequency, having to search the studio for clues on how to guide the unlucky victims to safety was lots of fun and very creative. Although I would have liked some of the solutions to be more cryptic and challenging, I was still overcome with satisfaction upon working out the solutions and either saving or killing everyone that called in (depending on my mood). Outside of the imaginative puzzles, the banter and underlying story were very entertaining and an experience I won’t soon forget. Although it would have been fantastic to play the game via my PSVR 2 headset, I can’t hold this against the team as it was their first game within VR and they choose the Meta Quest II as their debut platform.

While perhaps its VR-ish setting is only minimally functional, the parts that deliver like the voice acting, suspense, and humor work wonderfully You know, there’s nothing quite like a game that manages to catch me by surprise.
