Levels+: Addictive Puzzle Game gets straight to the point with its title and the gameplay itself. As with the classics from this genre, this little minx lures you in and refuses to let go. It has deceptive simplicity and hidden depth that will keep players hooked for far longer than they might expect. The addition of some online elements would have been beneficial, but this is still ideal for all levels of Nintendo Switch-owning puzzle fans.

While Threes! in and of itself was a phenomenon, Levels+: Addictive Puzzle Game not only iterates on the formula in its own unique way but makes it feel like a perfect fit for the Switch. While it is missing some pertinent bells and whistles, like being able to compete against others on any type of leaderboard beyond water cooler talk, what is presented is rock solid and worth your time.

Levels+ does exactly what it says on its digital tin; being quite literally an “addictive puzzle game”. The ease and satisfying nature of the gameplay make you want to keep going and the ability to take the Nintendo Switch with you wherever you go for short bursts of play justifies a purchase of this title slightly more than it would otherwise. Despite not having a wealth of features and not having improved that much from its mobile form, the Switch version is still the superior option and players who love puzzle games with a need for thinking strategically will consider this a sound investment.

With all of that in mind, if you’re looking for a light puzzling experience you can just pick up and play semi-thoughtfully for a while Levels+ is better than other games of its kind that I’ve played on other devices due to the added complexity. As a budget-priced offering the question ultimately becomes whether this is the kind of game you’re looking for. If it is, and you understand that the goal isn’t to “win” but to challenge yourself to continue to try to up your score, I’d say this is a worthy purchase.

If the game were a dollar, maybe that experience would be worth killing an hour for. At $7 for the download, however, the game’s utter simplicity and lack of any standout quality would likely leave you disappointed with the purchase.
