A succinct, poignant and personal narrative puzzle game, The Forest Quartet is an excellent way to spend an evening. Its intimate story is brought to life through an art style packed with symbolism and gorgeous music. There are a few foibles with the game, but they account for just a fraction of the overall experience. The Forest Quartet is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5. The Forest Quartet left me feeling hopeful about the future. It’s a story about the resilience of the human spirit, the healing power of music and the profound, unshakeable impact that art can have on the world.

Full of gorgeous art, delightful jazz, and a very light amount of challenge, The Forest Quartet turns a story about death and grief into a fun, lively, cathartic memorial romp.

Undeniably gorgeous, charming, and wonderfully scored, this puzzle adventure is on the short side but memorable One terrific thing about the indie space is that it’s packed with games that may not linger terribly long, but make the most of the time you have with them and also don’t overstay their welcome.

The Forest Quartet is an experience that wears its heart on its sleeve. Pacing issues and character development aside, it was a joy to witness the unfolding of this jazz quartet’s haunting origin story, and it’s abundantly clear that The Forest Quartet was forged with love and intention. I’d happily stroll through the forest alongside Nina and listen to her crooning voice a second time if she were to request my company again. Rating: 7.5 out of 10 — Taylor Pryor Disclosures: This game is developed by Mads & Friends and published by Bedtime Digital Games.
