The Great Escape (2003)
The Great Escape is an isometric action-adventure game. Controlling a prisoner of war in a German camp, your goal is to break out undetected. There are numerous ways to freedom - back doors, cracked fences, even underground tunnels. However, you have to plan your escape while obeying the strict rules of the camp.

Perhaps if the developers had focused more on the stealth part of the game and less on the other aspects, we'd have a game that's less varied but more fun to play.

Although it's diverting, there's nothing new here - occasionally you can fire weapons (including on top of a moving train) and there's one bizarre sequence where Mac has to outrun his pursuers and try not to get shot or have his leg chewed off by a vicious dog. On the other hand, the "peeping through the keyhole" trick works well because you can also pan left and right while you're peeking (a la Splinter Cell), and the idea of using other prisoners to distract the guards' attention while you try some sneaky manoeuvre also adds to the atmosphere.

Sadly, it's patently obvious that the programmers focused heavily on the stealth elements, leaving the other aspects like combat, weapon balance, and AI inadequately unattended. Okay, so now let's refer to all these one by one. The weapons can save your skin in various points throughout the game.
