The first thing I can say about this title is how much goofy fun it is. As you sword fight your way through hordes of guards you will eventually hit combos where you do a special attack.

I was pleasantly surprised with how competent Zorro The Chronicles ended up being. It uses elements from both old-school Assassin’s Creed and Sniper Elite in an easy and forgiving environment, making this game the perfect gateway title for kids to learn how to deal with a stealth game. I never thought I’d play a Zorro game in 2022, let alone one as good as this one.

We imagine that Zorro The Chronicles fans will find a bit of wish-fulfilment here. There’s every opportunity to slash a Z on the torso of your enemies, as you dance from melee to melee with grace. But you will need some blinkers to ignore the rampant repetition of its levels, which can’t come close to keeping things interesting or varied.

Zorro the Chronicles is a solid family-friendly action-adventure game but one that is mainly aimed at younger players. If you got a young gamer who enjoys the types of titles that Outright Games puts out then they will most likely enjoy this one too. Anyone older will likely find the gameplay to be too simple and repetitive to get much enjoyment out of it. *Zorro the Chronicles is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

I'm glad that I waited for Zorro The Chronicles to get a patch before reviewing it but even without the abundance of bugs, it's still an overall underwhelming adventure. It does show promise, though, so I'd gladly play a sequel. - + Simple and enjoyable combat and stealth that anyone can intuitively play - + Plenty of goofy K.O.
