BDSM is a rip-roaring good time, despite its short length and sacrifices to its visual presentation. It’s satirical humor is refreshingly bold considering the current landscape of games.

BDSM isn’t a bad twin-stick shooter at all it just doesn’t feel like it does anything original from a gameplay perspective. The level design isn’t very creative or visually appealing and the weapons never really felt powerful to me.

BDSM: Big Drunk Satanic Massacre is a decent experience. The shooting is acceptable if you're fine with uninspired weaponry and a lack of combat strategy. The game length is good enough that the campaign doesn't become a chore, and the presence of multiple endings gives you a reason to replay the game. However, there are simply better, more engaging twin-stick shooters on the platform. This is a decent game to play for a day or two if you can get it on sale — and if you've already played through those other shooters.

Ultimately, BDSM isn’t very good when it comes to the actual gameplay to start with. It’d be a not tremendously good game even if it was exploring stuff like themes and meaning with some actual depth. But when you get into the “parody” aspect that’s really just a thin veneer to defend against people calling out the content, it slips hard into the territory of just not being worth your time. That’s another comparison to things like Postal, of course.
