Demeo is not a perfect tabletop RPG. Its turn-based combat isn’t especially deep and its difficulty stems from brute force. But it is instantly graspable and endlessly rewarding even when the odds are stacked against you. More importantly, though, it’s a near-peerless social VR experience, polished to such a degree that it transforms the kinks of its systems into enjoyable, suspenseful quirks. Facing its brutish hordes with friends at your side is a thrilling, collaborative endurance test; defeat is met with entertained cries of anguish while victory — rare as that may be — is celebrated with the sort of group-wide elation you might have been missing in this tough past year. I was still, however, absolutely blown away by the tabletop RPG experience that Demeo offers. Not once did I experience any sort of motion sickness, meaning I can play Demeo for extended periods of time – far more than any other VR title can boast with me. I can’t wait to play Demeo with my regular D&D group as we ease our way back into in-person sessions. As a solo adventurer, though, Demeo is perfect for when I’m in need of a quick-play session with other players from around the globe. Demeo is a fantastic dungeon-crawler, and a perfect addition to the PSVR2 library. Demonstrating a visual clarity not seen on any other platform, the PlayStation VR2 version is the best possible platform. This is an easy recommendation and a must-have for any PSVR2 owner.

If I didn’t already have a VR headset, Demeo would have been what pushed me into buying one. As it stands, it’s made me consider buying a second to fully experience some local co-op play. Anyone who’s a fan of tabletop games, RPGs, or classic D&D needs this game. We need to take VR seriously.

Demeo is an excellent dungeon-crawling adventure that is fun playing by yourself but even more so with others in the community. You can play it without VR but it feels much more immersive inside the headset as you actually perform the actions. If you enjoy tabletop, dungeon crawlers then I highly recommend Demeo and would call it one of the must-plays of the PlayStation VR2 launch lineup. *Demeo is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, Oculus, and HTC Vive.

Demeo is pure, uncut geek wish fulfillment. If nights spent in the basement playing a living, breathing board game with your buddies sounds like something you would enjoy, then don’t hesitate to grab this fantastic tabletop RPG sim in it’s best current incarnation on PS VR 2. Tons of content, a wicked level of difficulty, and spectacular visuals all combine to make this the best board game night of all time. Whether you have a group of friends to play with or feel like conquering the campaigns alone, you’ll have a blast no matter what. Demeo is easy to pick up and difficult to master, although it should be noted that the social space Heroes Hangout is inexplicably absent from this version. Nevertheless, it has a slew of content, a fun and strategic gameplay loop, stunning visual detail, and superb virtually reality implementation that all help to create a fully immersive tabletop title like no other.
