The long-awaited remaster of Ghostbusters: The Video Game continues to prove that licensed games can be absolutely fantastic, even with some aged visuals and difficulty. From the hilarious writing and performances to the viscerally true-to-form ghost-busting gameplay, Ghostbusters Remastered is a brilliant and genuinely great love-letter to franchise fans and gamers alike. Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered Developer: Terminal Reality and Saber Interactive Incorporated Price: $40 Platform: PS4 (reviewed), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC MonsterVine was supplied with a PS4 code for review. Ghostbusters is one of my top five favorite films ever.

This may seem like an easy cash grab scheme to re-release the same game and play on the nostalgia people have for the Ghostbusters. But they have done a lot of work to upscale the graphics to make it feel like the game belongs on the Xbox One. It is still a good fun game and it does feel like a continuation from the movies and great that you feel involved in the story. If you can ignore the few minor annoyances, then this game still holds up as a decent game for anyone and not just long-time fans. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox One.

With a fresh coat of paint, higher resolution, and sharper textures, Ghostbusters: The Game Remastered brings the unofficial Ghostbusters 3 script to life for a whole new audience. While the multiplayer mode is still AWOL, Saber Interactive promises we’ll see that pop out of a ghost trap in the near future. In the meantime, there’s a fantastic swan song for the original Ghostbusters team.

Although Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered does include a handful or two of ideas and ghosts from the first two movies, it does a great job of explaining things enough that someone unfamiliar with the franchise can pick it up and play. I know some may have been disappointed that new content wasn’t added to the story, but it could have been a little hard with the passing of Harold Ramis.

All in all, Ghostbusters: The Video Game was great back in the day and remains the same in 2019. The gameplay, not without its minor frustrations, is absolutely worth the $50 AUD price tag.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is the best game based on the franchise and this remaster makes playing it more enjoyable than ever.Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered gameplay video → Zombieland: Double Tap - Road Trip Review PlayStation 4 ★★☆☆☆ Speaking of video games inspired by movies with Bill Murray in them, here's a twin-stick adaptation of Zombieland: Double Tap. Where do I start with this one? In the PlayStation 3 era, there were countless zombie-inhabited twin-stick shooters and most of them were pretty fun while a few became instant classics such as Dead Nation.

For me and for my generation, the subject matter that Ghostbusters: The Video Game so respectfully represents is a flight back to the carefree childhood. Here’s the catch, though. It’s not a one-way nostalgia ticket to the bygone world but a fun game that perfectly holds up today with its entertaining gameplay, sparkling and characteristic visuals and amusing narrative. Can I ask for more from the game? Wait, of course I can! Next, give me a Ghostbusters game where I can play as Jillian Holtzmann and the world would be complete!
