Equal parts disgusting, horrifying, tragic, and downright beautiful, Morbid paints an unforgettable picture of Lovecraftian and Cronenbergian madness come to life.

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes on Xbox is an excellent Souls-like experience and one that any fan of the genre should play. It’s constantly rewarding and delivers a frantic challenge on the whole. There are some hiccups along the way but it’s not enough to bring down this trip into steampunk nightmares.

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is a challenging game which generally incorporates both the good and annoying elements of a Souls-like experience. Still, it manages to stand out thanks to its strong dark fantasy presentation, rich Lovecraftian lore, and gameplay systems that offer methodical combat and plenty of features to make the adventure satisfying. It’s a difficult game, for sure, but it doesn’t forego quality-of-life features for the sake of being difficult, and so in this sense, many players outside of the Souls fandom can get something out of it. Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is a decent action RPG that fans of the genre will enjoy. It has a dark souls style to it so be sure to keep an eye out for those shrines. Death isn’t to be feared but you will have to fight the monsters you just cleared, and in the later levels, this can mean a decent amount of time lost. Still, I enjoyed the progression from each zone with terrific music and I liked the art style that softened the sometimes graphic content. If you’re up for a challenge, Morbid is for you.
